Carla Sakrzewski is our very talented makeup artist. Dean photographed and filmed the session (not an easy task) and Karen styled and assisted. Thank you so much to Felicity for being so patient and just amazing during the session.

It takes twice as long to video and shoot a session and she had to hold poses and maintain her happy face for a very long time so that you can experience a session with us in your own home.

We started in our natural light studio for some implied nude and glamour and then we went into our dark studio for our dark nude and fashion/glamour. We hope you love it.

This week we painted our model, Riana Horner, with pink paint. In fact she painted herself along with a 2 meter square canvas. It was messy but fun.

This was a session conceived and arranged by Amie Casey and Cecilia Arendsen from Moka Creations. We also produced a short 45 second video from the session. We hope you enjoy the video and the images.

Mary came to us this week for a fashion, nude & glamour session and was accompanied by her friend Kea and makeup artist Vania from Veeutiful makeup in Townsville. The 3 girls spent a few days together in Brisbane as part of a working tour from Townsville and we had a great day with them with some fantastic image results. Nude photography – Why shoot nude?

If you tell a friend that you are wanting a nude photography session you will get one of two replies. . . . .

“Oh my god, why on earth would you want to do that? I could never be nude in front of strangers.” OR “Wow, I have always wanted to do that but have just been too scared. Good on you. You’ll have to let me know what it was like.”

It is quite strange how differently people feel about being nude, or being photographed nude. We have found though that a lot of people don’t have an issue so much with nudity as long as they look good. They have so little self confidence that they can’t imagine looking good out of clothing.

A large percentage of our clients come to us for a glamour or boudoir session with the thought that they would love to do some nude, either implied, artistic or what we would call “glamour nude”, if they could muster up the courage. They arrive very nervous, saying that if they feel brave enough they would love to have a few nude images. After meeting Dean and I and relaxing through 60 – 90 mins of hair and makeup they have calmed down and are ready to enter the nude studio. They usually have a thought in their mind that they will work up to the nude. They decide they will shoot the clothed or lingerie images first and when they feel confident they will go to the nude. I then have to tell them that we do the nude first, so after they pick themselves up off of the floor I tell them the two reasons.

1. We can’t have any marks on the body for nude which is why I will ask you to arrive without a bra and with loose comfy clothing. If we shoot clothing first there will be marks.

2. If you have in your mind that the nude is coming then it will show in your face through the first part of the session. You will be thinking about it constantly. When it is done first, it is out of the way and once in lingerie you are feeling overdressed and very proud of yourself that you did the nude & lived to tell.

Our clients are usually feeling pretty relaxed within 10 minutes and forget that they are naked. Dean and I are so engrossed in the lighting and posing, and the client is focusing so hard on holding the pose, that they forget the nerves and get involved in the session. Having our beautiful “Sammie” the Samoyed in the studio during the session also gives the clients something to look at and they all say she helped them to relax, especially when she starts to snore. When the client views the first image on the back of the camera, and they see how great they look, any remaining nerves fall away. We find that people are not so scared about being naked as much as they are scared of looking bad in the photo.

Remember that all of the final chosen images for purchase are beautifully edited and finished in photoshop. We can do a certain amount of body trimming and can remove most stretch marks and scars as well as lift breasts if needed. We do not go overboard on this as nobody wants an image that does not look like them and we have all seen the horrors of the over airbrushed glamour image.

Reasons to shoot nude:

Memories – what better way to remember how you looked at this point 20 or 30 years from now, than tasteful nude images.

Gift – nude images make an amazing gift for your partner.

Pregnancy – what better way to remember your beautiful baby bump than to shoot nude. It celebrates all that is beautiful about being a woman.

Comfort Zone – many ladies will shoot nude just to be pushed out of their comfort zone. It is way easier and safer than a bungy jump

Confidence – most of us lack confidence in our bodies. We can show you how, when in the right light and with the right posing,  just how fantastic you really are. You will learn to love your body once again.

Celebration – many ladies shoot nude after reaching a milestone of weight loss.

Different styles of nude photography:

Artistic nude is photographed in our dark studio. We sculpt the body with the use of light and posing techniques. These images are often produced as black & white or sepia tones and suit men, women and couples. The use of light and shade will trim the body and posing techniques will trim and tighten where needed. We can also trim a little more in photoshop for those problem areas. Stretch marks and scars can be removed in most cases and breasts lifted if needed.

Implied nude: can be photographed in our dark studio, our daylight studio or our boudoir room. It is simply a nude image where breasts and/or pubic area is covered by fabrics, props, other body parts or by your partner. You will need to be nude in most cases for this as we do not want sides of underwear or bras to be seen in the final image.

Glamour nude: is usually photographed in our daylight studio and is very soft and feminine. We use natural light and the room is decorated in white & floral. These images can be fully nude or implied nude.

Seductive couples: Our daylight studio can be changed into dark sultry colours with furs & fabrics, and with the use of flash lighting can become a seductive boudoir set for couples and singles. This can be fully nude or implied.

Our nude photography packages will begin with a beautiful makeover, followed by a 1 – 2hr photography session with complete guidance with your posing and styling. You can choose from mounted photos, folio box, albums, coffee table books and wall art, all of which will come with the digital versions of each print, or you may choose a digital only package.

Natasha asked us to push her out of her comfort zone today and include some beautiful nude photography images along with the boudoir and glamour that she originally came here for. She was so happy that she did them and loves the results. The images are a birthday present for her boyfriend and we are sure he will love them.

We have a lot of ladies come in to us for a glamour or boudoir session. While they are in the makeup chair they look at a large TV screen which scrolls a selection of our work. They will often see our beautiful and tasteful nude photography and express an interest in doing some of that themselves. They are usually quite scared but they will always decide that they have made the step to come along so they might as well take a deep breath and do the nude images. They never, ever regret that decision. Our nude photography is done in either our dark studio for the moody dark images, or our natural light studio for the brighter images such as you see above.

The big question which is asked when shooting nude photography is “can we fix stretch marks and do a little thinning where needed?” The answer is yes, so if you are coming in for a session with us and you think you might like to get brave enough to include some nude, don’t fret it, it’s easy really.

Here is a collection of our award winning images for the past few years entered into both the Aipp Australian & Queensland photography awards and the International Loupe awards. The images below have been entered into several different categories including portrait, fashion, newborn, landscape and weddings.

Photography awards can be both very satisfying and very frustrating at the same time. You just never know what the judges are looking for that year. We have sometimes spent hours and hours on an image, only to have it not place at all, and then you might get a quick and easy lucky shot in a session, and bang, it wins an award. It really can be like the perfect storm but we keep on chasing it. I think as photographers, the awards encourage you to keep on aiming higher and higher and it is great to achieve the recognition of your peers when you win an award for your photography. We are still chasing that elusive gold award so keep an eye on this space to see if we eventually get there.

We have always produced beautiful pregnancy images but it was only last year that we decided to add newborn photography to our repertoire after being asked by several of our expecting mums. We purchased a few props, wraps, and bits & pieces and started offering newborn sessions. We were stunned when we won an international award for an image taken in our 2nd newborn session.

Newborn sessions are very challenging and a lot more work than a glamour session but they are very, very rewarding. It is so special for Dean and I to be the first to officially record that gorgeous new addition to the family. Given that the best newborn images are of the bubs when asleep, we need to take all the time needed to achieve this. Patience is a virtue and a good pair of earmuffs can help at times too.

We can photograph your beautiful belly along with your partner and then your new arrival at around 7 – 10 days so that they are still nice and sleepy.

This session was the third for the wonderful Michelle. Michelle was in the studio to model some commercial garments for 2 different clothing companies and she decided to stay back afterwards for an art nude session. We had wanted to try a new lighting style and shooting technique and Michelle was keen to be a part of the session and to be able to come out of it with some gorgeous new images for her portfolio.Michelle was very patient with us, and as usual, so easy to work with.

Today Amanda and her husband Ben drove down from Bundaberg to shoot with us. Ben bought Amanda a gift voucher last year for a glamour session with us and it has taken them months to get a free weekend to make the drive but they are very, very happy they did. Amanda wanted the complete experience so she tried a bit of everything. Clients will often book a glamour photography session but decide on the day to be brave and add a bit of nude or boudoir to the mix.

As well as glamour photography we added a few artistic nude images, a few portraits in the natural light studio, some boudoir on the chaise couches and then finished the day with a sexy couples shot. We had a fantastic day shooting Amanda as she was so easy to work with and so friendly. Both Amanda and Ben were over the moon with her shots and found it very difficult to choose. As a photographer the most amazing part of our job is to see the transformation of a client throughout the shoot. Amanda arrived nervous and without any confidence in herself and left as confident woman with a new appreciation of her own beauty.
